Still working full time on Abiogenesis. Currently creating parts of the environment using Zbrush for terrain sculpting. It\'s turning out really well. I will put some final renders on the site soon.

The animatic phase of my short film is finished! I now have a complete list of shots with carefully chosen camera angles, that I know work for the film, and cut together nicely.
I\'m now applying more details to the models, and working on the environments.
Recently I have felt a little stuck on the ending of my film. However, yesterday I showed the animatic for a second time at the Lightwave User Group, and realised just how far the animatic (including the ending) has come since I showed it to the group a few months ago.
A few people have been asking how I developed the robot that the film focuses around. So I\'m thinking it would be a good idea to do a little behind the scenes video, and give you something more informative about the film. However I don\'t want to be taking much time out of working on the film so we\'ll have to see... watch this space.
I\'m still working on the animatic for my short film, so there\'s no pretty pictures to show you yet. However, I\'ve had to make the models for this animatic quite detailed and close to what I need for the finals. This was the only way I could visualise shots that focused closely on the robotics that appear in the film. So I\'m actually a little further along than one might usually be during the animatic stage of their production, and I\'ll be using most of the same files for the final shots.
The animatic currently runs for three and a half minutes (less than it was a couple of months ago but much more refined). It has approximately seventy separate shots and I\'ve had to create over twice this many shots to find the ones that work the best. I\'m currently refining the climatic end sequence, and have about another thirty seconds to a minute of animatic to add.
I gave a presentation about my short film "Abiogenesis" at Massey University in Auckland this week. I showed how the idea for my short film has evolved over several years working in animation. Then finished by showing the early animatic of the film. The response was promising, and I received some valuable feedback.
With this new layout I hope to keep anyone who\'s interested updated on my short film.
So far I\'m almost halfway through making the film. As it gets closer to completion I hope to release more pictures, and perhaps a trailer for the film.
